	When Charles II returned to England in 1660 there were only three cities with more than 1,000 inhabitants in the whole country! Bristol with 20,000 and Norwich with 30,000 inhabitants were dwarfed by the capital with a population of about 400,000. Approximately 5 Million people lived in England at the time.


	London Bridge was the only bridge leading across the Thames River at the time! In contrast to the wooden city houses, the buildings on the bridge were made of stone.
