This blackbird built a nest just 2 m away from our back door. Actually, as you can see, this is a brown-greyish female with light brown spots. The male bird was dark black but also quite shy and we never managed to take a picture of him.

We discovered the nest around easter 2004 (10th of April). There were 4 cute little hatchlings that grew visibly from day to day. Besides worms they also got fed with Tipsy’s old cat food. Maybe that’s why they didn’t cry for food as much as other hatchlings normally do. I think I heard some purring one time, though...

19/04/2004 - Their last day in the nest.

On the 20th of April, all the birds were suddenly gone Without even saying good-bye!

... and suddenly - on the 1st of May - there were five new eggs in the nest! Klick here to see completely different amazing pictures of the second batch!

They hatched on the 11th and flew away on the 22nd of May.
