We were glad to leave the
noisy city behind and after two hours on busy roads with utterly boring scenery, we finally reached the Atlas mountains again. The quick succession of different landscapes was quite impressive:
Having reached the first
major pass (1600m, I think) we knew there was much more to come. We had a mint tea in the shop in the background))
When it became clear that we wouldn’t
have a chance of crossing the Tiz’n Tichka pass the same day, I began looking for camp sites and discovered this dry river bed just before the village of Taddert. It’s very easy to reach from the road but you are
nevertheless completely hidden from sight. Click on the image to download a little video.
We were soon discovered by
shepherd boys and they waved down to us from high above. You are never alone in Morocco.
The only time on our entire
trip that I was able to make a fire. All the other times we camped outside we tried to keep a low profile, but this time we were hidden from the road and the locals had evidently seen us already. There was some
driftwood from the little river and a lot of dry roots and thistles. A holiday without having built a fire is not a proper holiday, in my opinion. Download a video by clicking:
